Stopping for Ramadan
Some have suggested stopping the offensive in Afghanistan during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. This is a well meaning sentiment, but the Taliban and their supporters do not deserve such a timeout.
A stoppage would only provide the Taliban with time to re-build their military infra-structure. This would necessitate the allies starting the bombing campaign over again and put US and British aircraft in harm's way. This would also only prolong the military campaign and put millions of Afghan refugees at greater risk of starvation.
If necessary, the military campaign should continue until the job is done. This will result in a quicker solution to the Taliban problem and get Afghanistan and its people on the road to a recovery from the Taliban's policies sooner.
